About Aten Inc.

Education is the great leveler.

Our core philosophy: the right learning, made accessible, can erase global barriers. We come from generations of educators dating back hundreds of years — and we're applying the latest technology to a century-old problem.

Our mission

Enrich education globally.

Leverage the most impactful advances in technology to provide effective educational access to the farthest and neediest — and to bring those same advances to enterprise training where they save Fortune 500 organizations millions per year.

Our vision

Translate research into experience.

Take Aten's award-winning expertise in serious games and 3D immersive virtual worlds — with embedded formative feedback and performance assessments — and turn it into scalable, fun, situational, experiential learning that works.

Proven impact

Measured outcomes, not learning myths.

In one anonymized enterprise deployment — non-healthcare, normalized — ATEN's simulation-based adaptive methodology delivered:

29%
Productivity
improvement
21%
Average Handling Time improvement
(49 sec vs. 65 sec projection)
50%
Training throughput
improvement
81%
Reduction in
attrition

Each result far exceeded the program's 5% improvement target.

Figures normalized; based on a single anonymized enterprise customer deployment (non-healthcare). Results vary by organization and program design.

ATEN's simulation work has powered award-winning enterprise programs — including a WNS learning program built on ATEN's vLearn platform that earned a 2022 Stevie Award (Customer Service Training Team of the Year).

Our roots

Rooted in research, not trends.

From 2007 to 2010, ATEN collaborated on research with Dr. Leonard Annetta — then of North Carolina State University's College of Education, and a pioneer of Serious Educational Games — exploring a question the U.S. Department of Defense had already answered for military training: could the same simulation methods that prepared soldiers be translated into effective learning for a generation of digital natives?

That inquiry shaped the design principles ATEN still builds on today — identity, immersion, interactivity, and increasing challenge — anchored in evidence rather than entertainment. It's the same research-grounded approach that runs through every program we design.

“They thrive in environments that challenge them.”
— Dr. Leonard Annetta, on digital natives. Review of General Psychology, 2010.
